JOB SUMMARY: This is a Complex Tax Distributor - Tax Law Specialist position in the General Tax Administration Program, Refunds and Revenue Accounting Process, Distribution Unit. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert and key technical consultant in one or more of the major taxes administered by the Department of Revenue relating to the interpretation of Florida Statutes, laws, and local ordinances, and the distribution of these taxes. The incumbent reviews the financial requirements and assists in developing accounting policies and procedures as they relate to the Taxpayer Accounting and the Fund Accounting/Distribution processes in accordance with the proper application of the law and generally accepted accounting principles to maximize efficiency within the process. The incumbent also supports the operational goals of the process by analyzing workflow, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending and implementing process enhancements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four years of professional accounting work experience.
  • Two years of experience working with the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).
  • Experience working with Microsoft Excel.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting or area of business can substitute for the required accounting experience.

PREFERENCES:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have:
  • An accounting degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with FLAIR.
  • Experience working with Florida PALM.
  • Experience with distribution of taxes.

SALARY:   The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $5,723.88 monthly/$68,686.56 annually.
